Ronan's report

In 2008 I was running the German Fly Festival (GFF) for a first time. It was a hell of a festival and a hell lot of work to get everything organised. Anyway all the work was well worth it. We had 1750 visitors on the festival, which for a first issue was fantastic. Mel Krieger for example had 355 people watching his last casting demo.

I don't know how many emails I received since then asking for the GFF reloaded to come. But it was many! Problem is: Someone has to organise it and in fact that is me and my best friend Alex now. We decided to give it another go this year in May. Castle Wotersen next to Hamburg is booked and quite some excellent demo casters from different countries have already signed in. Of course Sexyloops will be on the show, too as Paul has already confirmed.

We will present casting demos, tying demos, lectures about most fields in fly fishing around the world, tackle dealers presenting new tackle, a casting contest, as well as a tying contest. And then hopefully lots of visitors! Our GFF website will be online soon. I am really looking forward to the festival. Ok, for the next two month I will have a full time 15 hours a day job to get everything running perfectly. But I am sure it will be worth it!

Right now I am pretty tired from working 20 hours on organising the demo casters. I am really glad not to have to sleep in a Sexyloops first class bed (a wooden plate in the back of a truck almost no space between the plate and the roof) or in just a Sexyloops bed (on the ground UNDER the truck) right now. Of course in exchange of a nice Snakehead at the end of the line in the morning, it (the SL bed) is absolutely worth it! I doubt Paul would ever be able to sleep well in what most people might call a normal bed anyway!? ;)

Mate, this time you need to catch a few ones for me, too out there in the jungle. Next year I wanna join!

Tomorrow back in a casting lesson and then a lecture about pike fishing in the eve. Will be a great day though.

Working in fly fishing is not always easy. But it always is fantastic!
