Ronan's report

Monday 28st March, 2011

30 pounds for a campspot, a bit of dirt?! It's not even a real campground anyway; it's a retirement village full of annoying people. Ok there's a pool, but 30 quid? Never again! I like the bush; it's better - and it's free. You wouldn't normally be able to pay me to stay in a place like this!

OK I feel better now. :) No SLTV again, but lots of filming. At some point there will be a bunch of episodes. My Mac is screwed - two years old. A year longer than a Sony. So I'll have to buy another one, but can't afford it at the moment! Is now a good time to mention the Sexyloops hats? You'll love them. Some day I'll be rich and no one will believe that I slept under bridges with mosquitoes and God, and you'll all be wearing hats.

Bloody good ride this week into Perth. I'm getting incredibly fit, fitter than any time in the last ten years and loving the feel of riding the bike. It was nice to have hills again after the last thousand flat Ks. If I'm not careful I'm going to be all legs! I love the fact that I get up and ride... I'm loving the invincible fitness feeling. I love the push up the ascents, and getting tucked down low for the descents, being able to "bump" the bike around a pothole or balancing while figuring out the next move, and of course the occasional crash. Most of all I love the freedom. The Marc Machine is starting to feel... you guessed it... like a flyrod.

Will be fishing again this week - it has been a real push this last few weeks to get to the coast and some water. I may have some casting here in Perth, then it's 4000K to Darwin. A few key stops to fish and meet 'Loopers and a flight to the Aussie-Scot Meet. The final leg to Brisbane looks tight, but I'll be more hardcore by then :p.

So what have I been doing to keep myself entertained if it's not the sock, Ray? I've been learning Magyarol. During the ride I strap the language book to the handlebars and try to memorise the words and during the evening I study the grammar. I don't mind telling you that Hungarian grammar is complicated, it's even more complicated than tying a Oliver Edwards fly. And for some reason it appears that you never ask someone what he does for a living, instead you ask if he's a historian.

Today I visit Perth's flyshop and take it from there...

Ronan's taken over the SL Blog. Check it out!

Cheers,
Paul

Oh yeah, and the other good thing about bush camping is that I don't have to walk 50m for a pee only to find I've forgotten the door code.
