Bart de Zwaan as many of you will know is the Dutch flycaster with a lovely gentle closed style that cast very pretty loops moderately far. However at the last World Championships he had the epiphany that his style wasn’t competitive because it failed to have the line speed necessary on the backcast. (Of course I had told him this very thing 10 years ago when he asked what I thought, and then proceeded to ignore my advice for a decade ).
Despite having Tennis Elbow, and instead of resting after the Worlds, King Bart rebuilt his stroke using the 170 style. Now this is the impressive part because after only two months he sets a new British Record while winning the 5WT event last weekend.
The only good thing I can think about this is that Bart was using the HT10
Really fantastic to see and great to catch up properly with Bart over a campfire. Congratulations Dude! 2020 should be an interesting competition year!
