For short casts I normally come in low, fast and off the side. If there was a fish in front of me - which there isn't by the way - I'd probably drop that loop much closer to the water, keep the tip down and lower the backcast ever-so-slightly to throw a puddle in the leader. I'm currently trying to get actual fishing casting sequences. It was hard enough finding a place where we could shoot loops - shooting loops and fish may take a lifetime - so don't hold your breath. It's interesting to watch this loop open up incidentally, a slightly higher backcast would change that.
