What a day, what a week!

What a day, what a week!

Well firstly, it’s probably been one of the most stressful weeks of my life, without actually doing anything. I’ve been coaching a couple of athletes at the World Championships and let me tell you, it’s far more stressful coaching a competitor than it is being a competitor. It was unreal.

I only really teach Trout Distance and they both did exceptionally well. I’m quite sure that both will win this event in the future. They have the skills, they have the talent, and they have the ambition. With that combination there is no stopping them.

Anyway that was good and thoroughly enjoyable. I have another couple of regular students who are also interested in the World Championships in the future and I was talking to Bruce Richards yesterday about the Veterans division. Now if Bruce goes to Italy then nothing will stop me going there too. That would make my year. I’m not quite a veteran yet. Christ, but not very far away!!!

Yesterday… what a catastrophe.  My goal in life, apart from fishing every day, is to accomplish one thing a day. And yes I achieved one thing yesterday. But that was not the plan. The plan yesterday was to accomplish many things.  Weekly shopping, weekly laundry, hardware shop, boat licence and a long run around the airfield.

Well I did the long run. It wasn’t the planned 21km but instead 17.5km. But I’m happy to call that a daily accomplishment. Everything else didn’t happen. And then, back at the Battleship: no Starlink. So I had to drive back up the lake to reschedule this morning’s lesson. Which was a good thing so did, because I found out that my Wednesday meeting with the Orang Asli and the State Park about Sungai Tiang Fly Fishing is a Tuesday meeting!

The plan now is to  get their website up and running and start to take bookings for early next year. February, March and April are the prime months for this river. We also have a couple of new trainee guides, so we will do a training session for them in late October.

Back on the lake I’ve been having a lot of fun with the HT9 prototype. Now I just need to find some enormous Snakehead for testing.

Sexyloops Hats coming soon!!

Cheers, Paul
