Busy day today. Four flycasting Zoom lessons. I managed to do some coaching in the UK but not the quantity I normally do. A few of the time zone differences were problematic (eg NZ!) and besides, I was pretty busy with family commitments. But here, back in Malaysia, I’m busy coaching again.
I’ve had a couple of fishing sessions on the Lake, the last two days. The water has come up but it’s still really quite low. Yesterday I found spawning Snakehead in an area that I often see them. So in a few days those ones with be actively parenting and I’ll catch them of course.
The real trick, however, will be to travel south to some more remote locations. But I have lessons right through the rest of the week and so that’s going to be impossible. I’m thinking about putting Starlink on the Battleship. It’s 240V from what I’ve read, which is just silly. And I’ll probably need a few more solar panels to handle it, but it’s an option for next year.
It’s nice to get away from the Internet. But If I can’t get away, then it’s nice to have remote internet with me! And besides, when sailing we will need this.
A few of my Zoom students are coming to the end of their 12 session courses and while some of those will be booking further lessons (after 12, I offer 6 lesson blocks), these are generally spread out further apart. This means that I have some free spaces coming up. It’s $800 US for 12 lessons and they conducted are at your pace. Drop me an email if you are interested in being coached by me to become a flycasting God, or at the very least better than you currently are.
I’ve booked myself back in again for Ironman Malaysia next October. And I hope to do the IM distance in Hungary in August as well, depending on the timing of the flycasting WCs, which is a mystery date, possibly sometime next summer.
Why it’s a mystery, nobody knows. People are looking into crystal balls and asking “Oh Great One… when will the flycasting World Championships be held?” And no answer is forthcoming, just mist and fog, no crystal. Old women are staring at tea leaves. “Old tea; can you tell us when the WCs will be held in Sweden?” But no, even the tea leaves do not know. In gypsy caravans, witches cackle. They weave hypnotically from side to side, while chanting ancient texts, “the sun rises in the east, the sun sets in the west, cackle cackle, when will the next flycasting World Championships be held?” But even they cannot tell. It is a mystery. Like the mystery of the Universe, the great mystery of how all things came to be, and the mystery of why things disappear never to be found again… the mystery of the date of the fly casting World Championships in Sweden is an unknown.
Do do do do, do do do do. You are now entering the Twilight Zone.
So… nice to be back. Lake’s a bit cold for swimming in (29C, I know that sounds warm but it’s not). It’s all about to happen!
Cheers, Paul
