I hope you are all enjoying the festive period. I'm sitting in the living room writing this with a bowl of trifle and an Irish coffee for my boxing day breakfast. I'll be heading out to the river in a while though.
It's cold today, minus one over night and it's still only plus two. But it's beautifully sunny and the river will be low as it's not rained for weeks. So once the sun gets up high enough to see fish and the temperature rises a little, the fishing should be pretty good.
It'll be unfancy and probably not too technical, which is fine as I'm not exactly firing on all cylinders this morning. The walk will help, so will the sun and the cold. I'm basically expecting to get fish on eggs, probably magenta. It's a reliable cold weather option in the slow pockets at this time of year, but maybe I'll get a pleasant surprise and find a few fish tailing in the shallow rifles, that will be just enough trickiness for the day.
Anyway I'm going to tie up a leader now and then head out.
