This week’s video is following up on the original masterclass video of the Pickup and Laydown from back in the past. I wasn’t very impressed with it to be honest. There are some interesting things in there perhaps for working on this cast but I don’t go down this line with beginners nowadays and certainly not in the first lesson! Anyway I explain that in today’s video and why. After this I add a better PUALD drill.
I very much hope we are up to date with all rod orders by the end of the week. We have been stuck with missing decals. It’s been a bit of a nightmare actually. It’s amazing how one small thing can completely hold up production. What takes five days to ship from US to UK takes over a month to get to Spain. It’s my job now to make sure that this doesn’t happen again. My way of dealing with this is to make sure we have lots of everything!! Anyone who has seen the contents of my in-boat kitchen will know what I’m talking about. I don’t run out of anything here. I’ll make sure this applies to our workshop too.
Last night we finally completed moving Sexyloops to the all-new lighting fast dedicated server. Man that was complicated. Thanks to King Bart for identifying the problem. Our new Sexyloops website is in the wings and I hope to be testing it next week.
Zoom Lessons are flat out of course. Ashly is joining me this week too, which is great because we can head down the lake and see what’s happening down in the remote far south. Not much happening in the middle of the lake that’s for damned sure!!
And the other interesting news is that, according to Paul Arden’s Meaning of Life tally, I think I’ve easily passed 12,500 fishing days now. That’s been made up of 4,500 days chasing Stillwater trout around the globe, 3000 days fly fishing in New Zealand, mostly backcountry, well over 3000 days of fly fishing here in the Malaysian jungle and a mixture of other types of fly fishing; imaginary saltwater fly, chalkstreams and small freestone rivers, some warm-water coarse fishing on fly and surf casting with multipliers, drowning various baits as a boy, fishing a small hand net releasing sticklebacks and one ice-fishing trip (it all counts!).
It’s really becoming time very soon to move to the salt and put a heavy stint in there. I hope to more than double this tally. But equally just 25,000 fishing days would be a good life, for me at least. That would be about 70 years of fly fishing days in one lifetime. Fuck, I wish we had more lifetimes. It really sucks if there is only one – there is so much more fishing that I want to do. And what about other planets? Imagine if there is a fish even more challenging than Giant Snakehead on Planet Xog. If God is a Gourami then I hope he has a good fishing plan for me in my next lifetime. Who the hell wants to be an eagle, a cat, a mountain or enlightened, when you can be an intergalactic fly fisherman? That’s right; Earth is just a testing ground for intergalactic fly fishermen. I feel better now. Space Camo.
Have a great week and enjoy the video. And no I'm naturally this red, but Trump isn't naturally that orange either. Next week there will be the updated Triangle Method video and a fishing video too. It’s all happening over here!! Even if the fish don't appear to think so.
Cheers, Paul
