week I bought an oven online. It runs on the small gas canisters that I already use for cooking on the boat. This is an exciting development in the Battleship beans and potatoes department. And also means I can prepare my annual lasagne, fresh bread and pizza. How times have changed!
Tomorow I’ll be buying oven pans. It is really very exciting. And I’m looking forward to feasts.
Last week the fishing tailed off slightly and next week I’ll try the East side of the lake. Chinese New Year has seen guided spin anglers fishing “my” areas and the fish I’ve found have been spooked. I’ve also found fewer fish too, hopefully things will recover again soon when the holiday season is over.
Today I’m uploading a video of David’s trip, which was a hell of a lot of fun. David did really well catching six fish, and I think the video helps explain a few things; the importance of the first shot and so on, when and where to cast and why.
Many guests struggle to hold these fish for photo and release. I’ll need to shoot a specific video on how to do this. Also a video on how to unhook them and the different considerations between these and other fish.
I saw some terrible handling of trout on social media recently. Trout should never come out the water, or at the most for one or two seconds. Snakehead are different in this regards because they breathe air directly. But even so, we need to be fast and efficient. I’m thinking a boat glove to hold the tail might be a good idea for guests. It’s not a problem for me, I don’t know why, but many guests find them too slippery to cradle.
We are still working on the Sungai Tiang website. Bonamy has really built this website from scratch and done an excellent job. https://sungaitiang.com
NOW is the time to visit. The Wet Season is coming to a close and the next three months will be the best months of the year to visit. I hope you can come over and fish here, which will support both the river and the Orang Asli. I will be joining the first few trips if required and so I can help with your fly casting and provide some ugly flies to fish as well.
Snakehead babies fishing season is certainly not over yet either. So a combined Sungai Tiang and lake fishing trip is also very possible, if you have the time.
First two weeks in March I am planning to be in the UK visiting London and Edinburgh.
Sorry to see Andy go. I’ve immensely enjoyed his six wonderful years of Front Pages! Hopefully he will be back again in the future. Best of luck with the epoxy business Andy!!!
Have a great week everyone.
Cheers, Paul
