Swim Day

Swim Day

Paul Arden | Sunday, 26 May 2024

A swimming club I visit in KL had an around Banding Island marathon swim, today, here on the lake. I joined in but I didn’t do the full 10.8km but instead 6km. This was only my second swim since the Malaysian Ironman last October! I really need to swim more often, and the fact that I didn’t get attacked by a Giant Snakehead restores some of my swimming confidence.

I think I spooked a Gourami in a wind lane. But that was about 5km in and my mind was in some interesting places by this point. When I swim solo I’m going to try pulling Ashly’s kayak along behind me with a rope attached to my waist. This way I can carry drinks and it won’t be a problem if I swim to exhaustion. All good fun anyway. I’ve always dreamed of being a really good swimmer but I’m not!! But no excuses now.

Now where to fish is the next question? There are more fish starting to behave normally again and so I think it could all be about to happen. This past month has been very strange and undoubtedly the high water temps has been the problem. 35.5C water temp was just crazy. I seem to be casting well and making some great shots, so if the fish would just stay at the surface fractionally longer, I think I’d be putting some of them in the net.

Lots happening here. Hot Torpedos and Hot Tortugas are being built in Spain. The new Sexyloops website is being built. And next week I will upload some new flycasting videos. I’m going to add about 80 flycasting videos to the “Masterclass” library over the next year or so. Updating the manual and adding drills and exercises that I use nowadays. The original library was filmed I believe 15 years ago! How time flies. I’m flat out Zoom teaching. I have 43 students now. I’ll take it up to 50 and I think that will be my limit. It’s still possible to book me. I charge 800USD for a series of 10 fun packed lessons.

I shall be back on Tuesday with some videos for the manual. I’m looking forward to that. I hope you’re having a great weekend, fishing somewhere and only swimming if it’s intentional!

Cheers, Paul
