Sunday is my day of rest. In my case it’s not for religious reasons but instead because on Saturday nights I have a 5hr indoor bike ride. I found a long ride on Zwift when I came back from the UK in January and I’ve been doing it every Saturday since. 5hrs on a bike might not sound like very much, or it might sound like a lot, depending on your perspective. 5hrs on an indoor bike, in a boat cabin, in the tropics, sure takes it out of me. I’ve been meaning to buy a thermometer to find out what temperature the inside of the boat is at the end of it. It’s definitely in the red!
And what should we do on our day of rest? We should go fishing; same as every other day!
I actually enjoy the rest day. When I structured my week, all the Ironman coaching that I could find on the Internet, stressed the importance of it. I fish, swim a little, might do some man yoga on the boat roof (which is drinking a sunset beer while holding the warrior pose). Of course perhaps every day should be a rest day but then I’d start to look like a walrus and have trouble climbing in and out of the boat. One thing I do believe is that if we are living outdoors, actively fishing, then we need to stay fit.
So I’m about to head out now. I have a video I’m making on the HT8. I may or may not have that ready for Tuesday. It contains fish. I had a cracking evening on Friday; had a free-riser chase (chased the flyline FFS), lost an adult that shot up and down the bank twice, filmed an elephant swimming and eating salad, and then caught a 4KG snakehead shortly after. That’s a pretty good evening in my world. And I’m heading back up there now. After a quick swim of course!
Have a nice restful fishing Sunday.
Cheers, Paul
Ummmmm…slurp.
