The technical world is always in a development - which direction one never really knows. Sometimes it feels new technology makes things go counter productive, specifically with communication. As much as I like the written word, email an texting can lead to a lot of misunderstandings, specially in a tuition. In the the good old days face to face tuition was the standard. Showing others how things are made. Let the steal with their eyes and watch them try themselves and correct them … fantastic.

Sometimes I am not too happy writing about fly tying and fishing. It sure feels much better to show it. Be together and try together. The teacher learns a lot as well as the student.

So I have started to teach fly tying via Skype quite a while ago. It´s really cool as one has so many possibilities, specifically when using small cameras or smartphones for the task. I am sure this type of work will increase over the years.

When you follow Sexyloops you have sure not missed the World championships in Flycasting in Estonia. What an amazing event. I really would have liked to be there to watch. I was particularly impressed to hear how well Ashly did. What an achievement after such short time in the sports. Paul truly is an remarkable teacher. Wonder if he could give lessons via video conference?
