Last weekend we had annual ice fishing event. Same company has been coming for 6 years now. It is always about same weekend, Friday and Saturday is ice fishing. They have pretty nice prizes as extra paid day off from work, one week paid holiday etc. It is more like event and Happy time and still they compete seriously.
We organize food and drinks so they can just fish and enjoy. It is also nice time for us as people are really nice and we start to know them as same guys are coming every year. We do have two huge fears with Satu, other is that they won't come for some reason and other is that they are coming. :D
Start of week was different, we had some snow against Tuesday. I started 3am tracking and spent 12 hours in forest. Wednesday was same yet shorter as I was home around 11am. We have hunting license for wolf and there is one wolf making huge damage in quite small area. Killing almost 2 reindeers per day, yes killing, not eating. Calfing is about to start and reindeer females are pretty close to give birth.
We didn't find wolf as it is possible that it moved more north and then it is not our headache anymore. On Wednesday bears were on the move so nature is waking up.
Thursday we had our own ice fishing event, we still have about 50cm ice. We invited some friends and our team with families to come. Absolutely nice sunny weather, +4 celsius. We had few drinks, grilling and ice fishing. It was nice that everyone caught something, well one lady didn't, yet her daughter got so... Each family left with some fish with them so we all are eating fish today. I will smoke ours and make nice sauce with it.
Sunday winter will give it last snowfall. Saturday will be rain and then wind turns from north and it will be snowing. Forecast is that might be even 20cm snow, I assume around 10-15cm will more likely. We have already summer tyres on one car, which I would need after snowing as wolf tracking will continue after fresh snow. Now most areas are without snow but fresh will make everything white again. Long term forecast says it will be few colder days and then turning plus degrees slowly. That's how summer will come.
I have give too many thoughts for last spring, as I do miss fishing in Malaysia and holiday, well maybe next year again. Some bookings coming for summer so that's good news.
