Moments

Moments

For me fly fishing is about moments. One of those moments here is the window of opportunity that snakehead present. That glimpse of the fish that screams “shot!!” Sometimes it’s the entire colourful flank of the fish at it surfaces, at exactly the right place, which screams money shot.

Preferably when that happens you put it in first time. If you don’t, then you need to wait until the next time it appears. There is no immediate second shot to get it right here, there might be a second shot, but it will be a different shot and maybe five minutes later. No easier than the first one. In fact in my opinion, for me, it’s harder than the first one and less likely to work.

If you can’t do that without false casting then you are not going to catch a fish here. You might get one, but it’s unlikely in a week. You certainly won’t get one per day!

Fortunately David can because he has trained the Snakehead shot for the past 12 months. It’s great fun and today is going to be another fun day!
