Mill House--Tim Borski

Mill House--Tim Borski

Before we get back to our regularly scheduled programming, I'd like to link to one more of my favorite podcasts from Andy Mill's series of interviews on The Mill House.

Anyone who reads these Front Pages with any regularity knows that I have great admiration and a self induced spiritual kinship with Tim Borski. When I first started fly fishing almost a quarter of a century ago, Borski's Bonefish Slider was one of the first patterns I learned to tie, and over the years has probably been responsible for more bent rods on my behalf than just about any other pattern I have used. Tim's ability to make tie impressionistic patterns that don't look like anything specific, but vaguely resemble just about everything is as much of an art as is his ability to paint images on canvas.

Recently, Andy Mill did a FANTASTIC interview with Tim on his Mill House podcast. Of course all of the bases are covered regarding Borski's history in the keys, including art, fly tying, his new found love of herpatology etc. What makes this interview so damn enjoyable though, is Tim's child like infectious enthusiasm for this game that we all play. When he recounts the old days of his exploits fishing the bridges at night with partner in crime,Tim Hoover, you can sense and feel the joy in his voice while recalling those great times.

I have written several Front Pages detailing my admiration for Tim's skill set, and the debt of gratitiude I feel I owe that I owe him for all of the great memories that his fly patterns have etched into my grey matter. To me, this is one of those interviews that REALLY needed to happen, and thank goodness it finally did. In my opinion, not enough has been documented about this insanely talented and unique and creative fly tyer....his story is definaltely worth a listen.

Hope you all enjoy the interview!
