No doubt by now many of you will have heard about the incredibly sad and untimely passing of Ian May. A quick glance at the outpouring of tributes on Facebook etc. indicates what a truly well liked and respected gentleman he was.
The last time Tracy and I spoke to Ian we discussed the upcoming World Fly Casting Championships and how excited he was regarding his role as official photographer. Not only was he an incredible fly casting instructor and talented wood carver, he also took beautiful photographs. He came to a BFCC casting event once, mainly to take photos as he wasn’t at all competitive, especially when it came to the gentle art of casting. The shots he took on the day put our usual snaps to shame - Today’s FP photos attached are courtesy of Ian.
This Saturday sees another BFCC competition event. Unfortunately this one coincides with England’s last game in the World Cup, however we’ve been assured that the game will be shown in the bar, so you can come along for a cast, have a beer and watch Sweden win.
Have a great weekend, and raise a glass in memory of Ian if you knew him.
All the best, James.
