While here in the UK I’ve discovered that we still have a few lumilines that I kept back in reserve. These are 100’ DT Intermediate glow in the dark flylines for night time casting demos, practise, lumiline fights, campfires and just having a lot of fun. They are damned good intermediate fishing lines as well, super slick and originally made for us by Rio. They cost 100USD each including shipping. Once gone they are gone! I don’t plan to take these back to Malaysia with me, and don’t expect to! So drop me a line on paul@sexyloops.com to order yours!
It’s 13 degrees centigrade and feels like Greenland. I didn’t come here for the weather. But on the good news front I’ve been working on my swimming for the Malaysian Ironman in 5 weeks time. And I can tell you that this is quite an experience… heading outside to the pool in air temps in the teens of degrees and getting into an outdoor pool that is claimed to be 20 something degrees and is certainly far more than ten degrees colder than my lake in Malaysia. My balls have shrunk. How people actually survive here I don’t know. Why anyone would choose to live in a climate where they have to wear clothes just to exist is totally beyond me. There is a missing piece to the puzzle of evolution. Humans leaving the tropics doesn’t make sense. Winter comes, they hobble around, their balls fall off and they fall apart. And that’s just in September.
I haven’t been biking but I have been running daily and ran 17km yesterday, through, what I perceived as Arctic Winds. I was carrying gels for the run but it was really difficult to fuel on these because they had turned solid and wouldn’t pour out the container.
The sailing boat I’ve been looking at buying is an aluminium explorer boat with heating and air conditioning. The heating is so you can sail to Antarctica.
Now, while there might be good fishing in Antarctica, and while it would be quite nice to see penguins outside of NZ and Australia, do I really want to go there? Or is it just that I *could* go if I wanted to? The older and much more sensible I become, the more I prefer warm tropical climates.
I’m going to start promoting Hot Tortugas soon. Hard to believe but we are almost up to date. I’m thinking of flying over to Asturias and catching up with Alejandro, Pablo and Juan while here.
I’m off to buy a woolly hat.
Cheers, Paul
