How to tie... a shrimp

How to tie... a shrimp

Daniela Misteli | Sunday, 21 August 2016

A step-by-step pattern of a shrimp for seatrout or what ever likes to eat shrimps. Instead of the expensive spey capes, there are used some simply and cheap pheasant feathers. Take a look and try it yourself

What you need to tie it:
- a hook you like
- some dubbing
- pheasant chest feathers (in different sizes)

As a first step you tie in a small dubbing ball to give the following feathers a nice shape and for those who like it to mark a bit-point in a fancy color.

Add a long pheasant feather for the long arms

Add a second dubbing ball to give the eyes a seat

1

place the eyes

2

3

Prepair the body feathers: a longer and a shorter one (with bigger hooks you may need 3 feathers)

4

Cut away the half of it, otherwise you have a really bulky fly

5

Tie it in and wrap it around

6
7

Follow the same step with the second feather and you have a nice shrimp pattern!

8

I secure the whole fly with a wire-wrapping and brush the dubbing out to have more volume.

9

Of course you can do them in a lot of different colors!

10

Tight lines
Daniela!
