Heated up

On Tuesday I had guiding on our lake. It was warm day, +25 celsius and sunny. I had doubts about fishing and especially how it would be. Water has been warming up quite fast and it makes fish lazy. My hope was to find some active fish from surface.

When we arrived lake was totally dead. My young guest made few cast from deck and then we took boat. I saw some rising fish on other side of lake so we headed there. That area was flat so some hatching was going on.

When we arrived on spot wind turned and killed rises. At same time other side got flat and after a while some rises. So we headed there.. same happened again, wind turned and killed rises. Our lake is difficult in this weather, it is kind on in the valley so wind is easily turning and killing spots fast.

I rowed around and boy was casting, I tried to stay in calm water as there was always some active fish, he got one strike and hold fish shortly and then long distance release. This wind game lasted the whole trip and we only had that one bite.

I was planning to go fishing this weekend but this heat is still on and river temp is now 22 celcius. That is way too warm to fish grayling and trout, well not too warm to fish, but it will be too stressful for fish if you need and want to release them. So I don't want to take risk. Fishing will be on pause until coming rain on Monday, that should cool waters down.

Next guiding is planned on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Forecast for coming weekend is sunny and 25-27 celsius.

Have a nice weekend
