Today Marina and I will start a fly fishing trip to Austria. Tomorrow we will meet with Christof Menz and Uwe Rieder to share some excellent fly fishing for trout and grayling in the two rivers Alm and Laudach. Both Christof and Uwe are making their living on teaching fly fishing. They are truly experts - especially when it comes to dry fly and nymph fishing.
I have met a lot of well known fly fishermen. Very few had such an incredible amount of fly fishing experience for many different species of fish such as these two pro-guides have. So we are really looking forward to fish together - a lot of fun and excitement for sure!
On the weekend we will demonstrate some fly casting on the Lake Side Fly Fishing Festival at the banks of the Wallersee near Salzburg, Austria. There will be new fly fishing tackle to be tested, fly casting demos and some fine experts sharing their knowledge with all visitors. Great weekend ahead though. I think Paul & t.z. will join as well?!
During the last days we have been teaching fly casting and fishing for carp, asp and pike perch. Also Marina and I had some distance casts on grass again. We didn't find time to train our fly casting for quite a while. Still we are on an excellent level. In trout distance Marina topped out at 34m and I topped out at 41m (bft. 2 in our back).
Right now I need to run and have some last casts on asp before we are leaving to Austria in 2 hours. Can't wait! ;)
Great (fly fishing?) week to all of you - hopefully we will meet some of you fine readers in Austria?!
All my best
Bernd
