The Fly Casting World Championship 2018 will take place in the UK next week. The best fly casters from all over the world will battle in both single handed and double handed fly casting from Friday to Sunday.
For all fly casting geeks and fly castig instructors that will be the place to be! Significant over 100 fly casting experts coming from numerous countries will participate in 6 different fly casting events. There will be a lot to learn in all events. I can't wait to make a lot of videos and to again study all the details in slow motion. Lots of fun and learning in that for sure.
Of course I will be participating (in 2 events) myself. So hopefully I finally can make some time to train my distance casting at least a little. My problem is, that I love to fish too much. But I think, that's maybe the only fair excuse not to make time for practising!? ;)
The 6 different fly casting events will be:
3 single handed ones:
Trout accuracy = casting to different targets with a 5wt. longbelly fly line
Trout distance = distance fly casting with a 5wt. longbelly fly line
Sea trout distance = distance fly casting with a 27gram shooting head
3 double handed ones:
Salmon distance = distance fly casting with a 55gram shooting head
Spey distance 15'1" = distance change of direction fly casting within 460cm rod length
Spey distance 16'/18' = distance change of direction fly casting within 550cm rod length (men) and 489cm rod length (women)
Thanks a lot to Lee Cummings for having put almost one year of hard work into organizing such a fantastic large fly casting event! Oh, and thanks a lot to Angela for supporting Lee as well!
Really looking forward to meet all of you in the UK next week.
Since I will be sleeping in the same cabin as Paul, my toughest event most probably will be to survive his socks! But I have a serious (yet secret) strategy for that! ;)
Hopefully you are all having some fly fishing activities coming up in your pipe as well!?
Great week to all of you!
All my best
Bernd
Lots of fishing and some fly casting tuition involved during the past days!
