I'll say it straight away - I'm biased. I've been part of the Federation of FlyFishers Denmark, who puts on the festival, for many, many years, both as a member and board member, so I'm clearly a bit partial!
That said - it really is a nice event. Many of our international demonstrators tell us that it's the nicest event on the calendar, with a great mood and atmosphere, and we're quite proud of that.
Most international (and new) tiers and casters are none the less impressed when we tell them that the show is prepared, executed and finalised entirely by volunteers who spend the whole weekend (some even longer) laying out and setting up stands, casting pools, helping out retailers, servicing tiers and casters, bringing people to and from the airport, making sleeping arrangements and much, much more. It's really hard to imagine the amount of work that goes into running a show like that, unless you've been part of it.
So if you have nothing more important to do (which you don't unless you're getting married or attending your own funeral), I recommend you visit the Danish Fly Festival next year. It's on march 4th and 5th 2017, in Kolding, Denmark. You can follow the festival's Facebookpage and the dedicated festival website.
It's a great show with the best Danish and international demonstrators you can imagine. We're looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones, both visitors and demonstrators.
Have a great weekend!
