On Monday TV crew came to Ammarnäs. I fished Monday with Satu and Gunnar. Gunnar took us new spot which was really nice. We caught few grayling and we saw three Ammanäs trout. It was relaxing day for me after long guiding day on Sunday.
As you might know every TV program has sponsors. And I got sponsor's long johns.. long underpants or what ever. Those was blue and extreme version, which mean they are thick and made for extreme cold. Made from merino wool, and I use these devolt brand when I need long ones.
The ones I use for fishing under waders are black and always used during winter. So those are getting thinner and might have some extra holes. So mine are really used.
I had doubts but still I decided to wear new ones, those would be warmer. Tuesday and Wednesday we had quite good fishing and Satu got some really nice graylings for tv. My success was something else, I caught some but not really bigger ones.
Wednesday we had flight to Mankeforssen with helicopter, we would have mountain fishing for trout for two days. Wednesday I weared new, blue ones. I hooked few fish, lost one okay size and during the late evening lost big one. I landed some 30 cm trout which I don't count.
During the next night I decided to make scientific experiment. I would wear my old long johns on Thursday. If that would make diffenrence for my fishing. I caught ten trout on Thursday, one with streamer and others with dry fly. Some of those about 30 cm and biggest ones 44, 45 and 46 cm. I got first fish for day and they got everything every moment in camera starting from take.
So what we learn from this.... never ever change or wash or fishing clothes duting the season. I took risk with cap last season but I made thru that. Changing underwear was huge mistake, I don't know if it was colour as new ones was blue and old are black.
I'm sure that reason was and is that I didn't use those during the winter, so I didn't drive them in as to speak.
So lesson in this... never ever change or wash your fishing clothes during the season. We still have two fishing days with crew, Friday and Saturday. After that we stay with Satu one week for fishing these amazing waters.
My clothes will be washed in October after season is over.
