Desperate or passionate?

Desperate or passionate?

Monday after finishing reindeer butching I checked forecast for coming days. Tuesday looked absolutely stunning for fishing, still +7 celsius and sunshine. That would be really good for our lake, so I started to plan day that afternoon when it would warmest moment, I would be fishing.

Late Monday evening one phone call ruined rhe whole fishing plan. Originally it was planned that Friday we have next butching and that would mean Wednesday and Thursday as reindeer work. Unfortunately helicopter was only available on Tuesday so everything was moved one day earlier. As my friend called and asked if I'm able to come with quad, of course I said yes.

Tuesday we gathered reindeer near Russian border and herd them in fence, Wednesday was round up and Thursday morning butching.

Thursday morning was chilly with - 2 celsius and clear sky. Butching was done around noon and I decided to go fishing after few small things which had to be done, as cleaning bolt gun and getting more food for reindeers which are at home already. I went to check lake as I was worried it might have ice layer after cold night. I was happy to see that it was not the case, and there was no wind either. This could be interesting.

I went fast to pick food for reindeer and determined that I will be fishing no later than 2 pm. As I was driving back from town I got reminder that I have Teams meeting at 3pm, fuck, I totally forgot that one.

I tried to be fast with meeting and jumped right after that to get gears and to the lake. Sun was going behind trees and temperature was going down from +6 celsius pretty fast. I saw two rises and had small hope that maybe I could find active fish.

My trip ended up after 2 hours with freezing hands (air 0 celsius , water +4 celsius). I had no bite, I tried nymphs, streamer and of course dry fly. I had 15 minutes casting session before wind with settling sun made weather way too cold to fiah or cast.

I enjoyed every second on lake, missing Malaysian heat and fishing, some memories about heavy wind in Sweden and catching big brown trout. Some insane sight fishing of grayling in Sweden, some nice dry fly fishing in autumn back home. And I realized that it could be last time on lake before May/june.

Was today's trip desperate or passionate? I don't know but forecast gives small hope for Friday and Saturday. If nothing urgent come up, maybe just maybe one more time baby.

Have a nice weekend and go fishing
