Next weekend is the second BFCC day of the year in Willesborough, Kent. If you’re interesting in attending then please check out the BFCC website or the Facebook page – the entrance to the cricket ground is easy to miss so there are detailed instructions on how to find it listed.
As far as the competition events go, the first meeting was dominated by Bart (taking 6 wins from the 7 disciplines) and I’m sure he’s training for a repeat performance. Whereas I’m hoping that things are not going to be so one-sided this time and will be gunning for an overall win on the day, as I’m sure will other casters.
At my last meet-up with Callum he absolutely smashed his PB with the salmon overhead outfit, sending out a beautifully pointed loop to over 175ft. The junior record that he’s targeting currently stands at 134ft, so I think he’s in good form to beat this – although you never know what might happen on the day. He’s also promised to put some hours in on the accuracy court but I suspect the draw of distance casting is a big distraction at the moment.
As usual there will be a number of really great instructors on hand to help with those wanting to learn to fly cast or to improve. So even if you have no interest in competition casting and just want to get more from your fishing then I’m sure you’ll enjoy the day. Tracy always receives a lot of fantastic feedback from people attending for instruction after every event – so clearly the instructors are doing a great job.
Tracy has also added a couple of new events to the BFCC calendar, one in the Bristol area and another in Cheshire, so again please see the website for more information.
I’m off out now for an all-day drinking session with friends. I suspect my Sunday may be a bit of a write off although I may get out for a bit of competition practice if I feel ok. I’m sure Bart is quaking at the thought of my training schedule.
Have a great week,
James.
