We had short trip to Kuopio with Satu, few nights in hotel with spa. Some could call it holiday, for me it was more like to spent time somewhere as we are between seasons. Well I did sleep a lot and did nothing.
We did some shopping as Kuopio is big city (Finland Standard), it has university etc. So shopping selection is way better than in Kuusamo. You can buy basically anything online of course, yet I prefer to see items before shopping. Also when you have more shops you can compare little bit more. Shopping is not my thing, it is something you have to do. And during summer we have lot of things to get done, maintain, repair etc.
So this between season is perfect time to shopping before summer starts.
We came back on Wednesday, I was hoping chance to go ice fishing one more time. So in the evening I went see how is the ice. It looked pretty okay still, yet there were some areas not so good. Decision will be done on Thursday.
My plans changed fast in the morning as I got alert about dead reindeer. So I had to go check that one, wolf has been seen on area day before and also bear. So I had to take rifle just in case as it could be possible that I could meet one of those during their breakfast.
Reindeer was killed by bear, nicely skinned, not breaking stomach and best part (both steaks) taken away. You never get surprised how culinary animals bears are. I found it's footprints close by, width 16 cm so it is big brown bear.
Afternoon I went see with dogs how the ice is. As it was +5 celsius night and +12 celsius day with sunshine..... it is totally not safe anymore, ice looked so weak, that I didn't want even dogs to go there. There might be quantity but absolutely no quality.
When weather stays like this, it is totally possible to start fly fishing season on weekend. At lake river mouths were open and it could be spots for dries. Also rivers are open and with warm sunny weathers there could be some action already. If so, I will go lake as graylings are spawing and trout eggs are funerable at the moment.
It is between seasons, but you can figure out some fishing if you want. Next week I need to organize and clean our storage rooms also, before summer really comes. Satu will go to Norway with her son, at least she can have holiday.
