After nice fishing trip in Sweden, it is back to reality. Last week couple from France came as volunteer to farm. They live in their camper van and help us in some work. They are super helpful as both of them are quite handy. They have been doing things at farm when I have been "working outside".
Working outside in this context means that I have been away from farm. We are renewing round up fence for reindeer work few kilometres from here. In that fence we will separate meat reindeer from breeding ones etc. In May we unbuilt old one and three weeks ago we started to built new.
Mostly there has been 6 to 8 reindeer herders, some days 5 person working. It has been pretty massive work as you can see from photos. Today we will get it done as only loading ramp and some small things needs to be finished. Fence should be awesome and be easy to use. Time will show that.
At the same time it starts to be horny days. I mean for reindeer, males are gathering harem and having busy time with girls for month. Rutting is not fully on yet but you can see boys are getting into it. Males are massive and you better watch your steps if you go too close their females.
We got first working reindeer from forest back home on Monday, he was not totally happy as he normally ends his holiday late November. Well he will get easy food at home and will be safe and as he is castrated, he doesn't have to worry about girls.
We had heavy rains here also, so water levels are high. Next week looks promising as it should be quite warm, +10 celsius, and cloudy or sunny. Sounds like fishing for me. I haven't been casting yet; it will change again as fence will ready.
When working at farm, and building things over there, I will have rod ready so I can make few casts when passing field. Fabien and Michelle, volunteers, will probably think I have lost my mind. It shouldn't be suprise to anyone who knows me. There is nothing right on left, and nothing left on right.
Heat wave is hitting mid Europe again next week I heard, and waters are low. Maybe we are lucky ones up north as everything is pretty much opposite from that. Yet it will be super long time to wait next fishing season, I try to take last moments out of this one.
