Friday morning last full fishing day in Sweden for this trip. Misty and rainy one as all the time during this one. Water level has rised about 60 cm from Wednesday morning and it is about 40 cm higher than July when we fished with Satu. July it was difficult and I was struggling.
I knew from start that this will not be easy fishing, so my approach is different from start. It is fishing anyway. I go to fish fly fishing stretch. It is really familiar for me and I have good idea where to fish. I start as usual from certain spot, I have caught huge graylings from there so it is kind of have to fish -spot. I'm prisoner of past on that way.
Nothing and I move upstream where is absolutely insanely deep hole between shore and main current. I could sink a bus in that. Soon I got bite and fish on... no big fight, quite easy landing and nice 48 cm grayling in the net. I'm really happy, I have beat circumstances. More fishing and furious 34 cm grayling up.
I move upstream to see some other spots. I own the river, there is totally nobody else now. Rain stops and it is getting even more misty. I fish some spots and land grayling from here and there, not big ones but decent anyway. I go to fish down part of stretch, it is on the way back to car.
That part I haven't fish so much earlier, even it is nice spot. First I got bite, then 36 cm grayling. There has to be bigger one somewhere, I fish slowly down stream on edge of heavy main current. Soon I got soft and heavy feeling bite, fish on... again no big fight and I landed 47 cm grayling.
I go back to the car and have lunch. I can warm also, rain has started again and mist is getting even thicker. I go see one new spot and current. It looks really good but with this high water impossible to fish well. When water is lower it will excellent spot for huge graylings, note to remember for next trip.
Overall I'm satisfied with my fishing. I knew when arriving that it will be difficult and yet I could catch some decent graylings and two really good ones.
Saturday morning I fished short time special stretch. It was sunny morning and fishing was about to get better. Water level was now +80 cm to Wednesday's. Finally dry fly fishing weather. I saw some rises but could catch any. It was fun fishing even short morning. It was timento drive back home 750 km.
Against to the all odds, fishing was decent, not great but comparing circumstances can't complain either. It is fishing anyway. This week has been rainy and I have been working at farm. Satu is in Germany and my daughter is visiting us with her dog. Chicken house is ready and Monday we will have hens and cock. Soon we will have eggs from own yard. Hopefully I can do short fishing in our lake and maybe one in river. Reindeer work will start any day now.
