Sexyloops HT Friction-free (HTFF) Product Launch

Paul Arden | Monday, 1 April 2024

After many years in dynamic testing, Sexyloops is excited to announce a new concept in fly rod ring placement. As the most experienced casters will already know, at the extreme outliers of flycasting sport, it’s common to find flycasters twisting the top three sections of four piece fly rods, out by 60 degrees to eliminate fly line friction against the blank.

Aligned such, the flyline runs along the fly rod rings only, instead of along the complete rod surface. In scientific tests we have found both a noticeable reduction in friction, as well as a significant increase in distance cast.

Paul says: “for many years I have been twisting the top three sections out to eliminate friction. Not only for casting sport but for all fly fishing, especially when performance matters”

We are excited to announce that we will now be positioning rod rigs outwards to a 60 degree alignment during the building process, so that you too can experience professional fly fishing competition casting rods, with the Hot Torpedo Friction-free.

Furthermore…

Paul also notes that: “In addition to twisting the upper rod rings out to 60 degrees, it has been discovered recently that twisting the butt section also out to 60 degrees, results in even less friction! It is believed that this is because there is no angle change between the reel and the stripping guide”.

Consequently, in order to keep a couple of steps ahead, of even the world’s most astute rod makers, we have chosen to build the complete rod aligned outwards to 60 degrees.

Left handed models are available on request. Please specify left or right when ordering.

Thanks, Paul

PS I’m very grateful to Tim Kempton for his astute inside out of the box thinking. Without his clear visionary input, we would probably still be building the same rods today that we were building yesterday.
