Double It

Double It

Three reindeer marking days in a row, Tuesday came as savior. Rainy day and we had masseur booked. Well it was not fully a rest day, as hay making is closer than behind the corner and all the machines are not maintained. You can't do that in rain as some parts need to be covered from water.

Wednesday we had once again some TV shooting, this time French TV. It was about fishing and local life. We had a session at our lake first.

I didn't have high hopes as weather was really shitty, north wind with +4 celsius. There was moment that I thought that we were able to kill it. Then bloody wind rose again and moment was gone. One corner was totally flat and I could see some small white flies on surface, so small that it was difficult to say if those were flies or air bubbles.

Anyway crew saw two rises and my hope got higher. Then wind came all over and risers were gone. They both got perch so not a zero visit. We had lunch at farm and moved to river.

On the way there was some heavy rain, which ended just before we arrived to river. Water extremely high as they were dropping water levels on lake, previous night there was a flow test in a newly opened river, and with heavy rain some issues.

I was worried how it will go. Rain stopped and wind calmed down, still pretty chilly yet decent compared to morning. Lot of hatching but no rises, so nymphing for crew. For me it is dry or die, so after checking one spot with nymphs and started dries. I knew it won't happen even hatching and flies around there was no active fish on sight and water level had risen in few hours.

It was more like casting session and also to be sure that I won't ruin spot from tv crew. They got one decent grayling which I was able to get on tape so they got what needed.

Around 7 pm it was time to wrap day. When we started in the morning it was +4 celsius with heavy wind, when we finished it was a luxury +9 celsius and no wind. It felt like summer.

Temperature doubled and crew got what they wanted. Time to move forward and continue reindeer marking and get machines ready for making silage.

Have a nice weekend and go fishing!
