BFCC Essex - last event of 2022

BFCC Essex - last event of 2022

Tracy&James | Sunday, 25 September 2022

I can’t believe it’s nearly the last BFCC meeting of the year – only next Saturday we’ll be in Brentwood Essex running a series of casting competitions and organising instruction. As usual there will be some amazing instructors who have given their time for free to provide excellent advice to anyone who attends, whether they are beginners, anglers who just want to improve their fishing, or casters who want to go that bit further and cast over 100 feet easily.

The competition should be a good one too as some of our top casters in the club will be attending, so if the weather is ‘right’ then perhaps some records might be broken. It’s going to be lovely to catch up with old friends and hopefully make some new ones. I’m just hoping that the weather will be better than last year – when it rained heavy from lunchtime, but everyone still enjoyed the day regardless.

It’s quite a journey for us to get to this event, so we’re breaking up the trip both ways by popping in to our work sites, so the weekend will be quite busy for us and the week before and after.

We’ve been so busy lately that we haven’t been fishing on the Dee, however I did manage to drive past on Friday on my way back from working down South and stopped to check it out. There were a few other anglers who were very helpful in providing detail on how it had been fishing that day and what flies were working. They mentioned catching on a dry too, which made me think I should have put a rod in my car just for these eventualities – I really love fishing dries and I was itching to go home and get my gear. However when I got back and realised James’ flight had been delayed (in fact of the 6 flights he took over the last week, only one was actually on time!), we wouldn’t have got to the river at a reasonable time. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to go in the week.

Next FP we’ll be reporting on the last BFCC Meeting and hopefully a fishing trip to the Dee, so whatever you are doing this week, tight lines,

Cheers, Tracy
