Just back from fly fishing for Atlantic salmon in Denmark I studied asp during the past days. Finally visiting Denmark again though remembered me to how much I need to travel!
Fly fishing for asp in my home waters is great, but there are most probably not much fish left, that haven't seen me at some point back. :)
I truly love to travel to as many places as possible. When the Danish border re-opened 9 days ago my friend Flo and I immediately crossed the border and chased Atlantic salmon in the Danish Skjern river. Of course I was swimming in it again to get as close to the fish as possible. Well, in truth I was trying to get my fly back from the other bank. Took me 2 hours to tie that fly. ;) All in all it was a great week and we very much enjoyed being back at the Skjern river! This time we failed to catch a salmon though. But that's very fair since most probably next time we are catching one of the biggest salmon ever!?
At the moment I am enjoying to study how asp react on my Multi action fly. In fact they mostly very agressively hammer into that fly. Even the small asp attack that fly in order to fight about their territory! It's amazing. That fly does what nearly all flies I did test within the past years failed on. That is catching asp, which are not eating but protecting their area.
Of course I tried that fly for Atlantic salmon all last week long either. Yet it didn't force any salmon to attack. I lost one nice Sea trout on it though. Since Flo didn't catch any salmon swinging typical Skern flies either, I am still confident! It will get another chance for sure soon.
I'll keep you updated, next Wednesday!
Great week to all of you!
All my best
Some pictures as always...
