Fly Fishing For Pike

Fly Fishing For Pike

Bernd Ziesche | Wednesday, 25 November 2015

Last week simply was a hell of a time fly fishing for pike in German Pike Wonderland. Several of my guests caught their first fish on fly rod or their first pike on fly ever!

Still am very busy teaching fly fishing for pike here in Germany. My days are starting at 7am and end at 12pm usually. In between there is a lot of excitemant and passion to share. Life couldn't be much better to me, right now!
A week ago we had 17° Celsius during the days and now the temperature has dropped below zero in the nights. This means more and more pikes are leaving the shallow spots while more and more pikes (especially big ones) will arrive in the deeper winter spots. It's now that one may be lucky to hook up with the ultimate issue of a huge pike. Two of my beginner students managed to hook up with their first fish on fly rod ever. Both pikes were clearly over 1m in length and unfortunately both broke the leader long line. Both students caught their first fish afterwards and were hooked on fly fishing in the end. What better would there be to share!?
Have to run into some proper fishing right now! ;)
Great fly fishing week to all of you!
All my best
Bernd
