Right now we are fly fishing in Grayling heaven. Thanks a lot to those who have helped to shape this heaven! Hein van Aar (the river keeper of the Kvennan fly fishing zone) is the first person coming to my mind here!
This week we are pretty unlucky with the fishing conditions at the river Glomma (Norway). The water level is much higher as it should be for a great fishing. And since we can't say to the sun: "More sun." - it seems as the sun doesn't know we want her to call in a lot more insect hatches badly!
But still this is heaven for catching fine grayling!
We have caught a fair number of fine fish (above 40cm) - mostly grayling. Besides that we are having a great time in the middle of some outstanding fly fishing enthusiasts. One of them is Walter Reisinger (Austria) who studies the insect life every minute of every day. I haven't seen much humans who have entered such a high level in whatever they love to do. Walter can answer all the questions about insects you may have and I am pretty sure he can even answer some of those questions you will never think of. If you follow Walter on his facebook site, you'll see a lot of outstanding pictures from all the mayflies, caddisflies, stoneflies and terrestrials we meet along our rivers. If you are searching for an oustanding book about entomology in fly fishing Walter in co-operation with Erhard Loidl and Dr. Ernst Bauernfeind published one. As it looks this book will be translated into English language at some point. So be ready for it. Best book in this field I have come across!
Ok, time for a strong breakfast right now and then we will be fly fishing a beautiful mountain lake today. I can't wait for the day to start!!!
