Photos can help preserve great memories or capture a moment to share with friends even when they don't pass the test of artistic perfection. I was fishing alone and scouting some new territory last weekend when I landed this monster carp, far and away my personal best. Using the self timer and a mini tripod that stays attached to my digital camera I was able to get this shot. The original composition wasn't great, and the horizon wasn't level, but a few minor tweaks (crop & rotate) in the photo editing software and I had something that I was very happy with.
