General description of any large heavily weighted nymph (incorporating beads, dumb bell eyes, split shot, lead or copper wire)to penetrate fast deep water. Also describes the entry of said fly onto water's surface. The bomb is usually employed to sink a smaller unweighted pattern attached on a short dropper down to the stream bed and is not expected to be the fly the trout takes.
