Yep there are a couple of points to be made with regards to this image.

For the beginners: note well the use of the left hand, this hand is acting as a fulcrum and I'm playing about with physics here. By placing the left hand up the rod like this (and I can place it higher if I want) I make the whole business of playing fish mush easier upon myself.

For the experts: note well the sign "Mataura River", this is significant.
