After a great start to the seabass fishing, my season has hit a real snag. Availablity. The boats are booked solid until Christmas, even on Mondays, which is when I usually go out, and I've never been unable to get a boat on a Monday before!
I'm guessing there is one main reason for this; social media. Over the last few years as a few anglers kept plugging away and dialling in the big fly game for big pre-spawn bass. The guys at SeaKuro have been moving more towards sharing the pictures Instagram and Facebook instead of only using their geocitiesesque website. It's working for them, but it's left me having to rethink my winter fishing the shore fishing is pretty poor until the fish return after the spawn. It's still been unseasonably warm so maybe there's an outside chance of mullet, but really it looks like I'll have to get back to carp. It's something I've been doing a bit more of this year anyway, and although they don't fight as well in winter as in summer there's still some good fishing to be had. Otherwise it'll be extra casting practise, fly tying and sorting out boxes, which might be a good thing as I'll be able to get my boxes in order with a long overdue clear out and retie.
It's not a terrible problem in the grand scheme of things really I suppose.
