Fly fishing is the most important part in my life. Not to share this part with my girlfriend would be a big loss - too big for me. Yes, I know many of you feel this to be different!?
I have met a lot of fly fishermen telling me to be glad about their girlfriend (or wife) not sharing the passion for fly fishing. Most of these fly fishermen told me to be happy when spending time fly fishing on their own or with a good fishing buddy, but knowing their better half to stay at home. Personally I never liked to come home after fishing and then being asked about having caught fish (or not) by someone not fishing herself. I simply didn’t like to talk about fly fishing with anyone not fishing herself. I always thought to feel significant different about my catches and all other important fishing parts then. Maybe this seems weird to you, but I never could get rid of this feeling and therefore decided not to talk about fly fishing with people not sharing my passion.
I really can’t think of anything better than sharing all my passion for fly fishing with Marina. Our last week was another fantastic week – lots of fly fishing, fly casting and fly tying included. During the weekend we were running fly casting courses. But even after the lessons it was Marina who couldn’t stop fishing until darkness. On Sunday night she repeated her “last cast” probably 20 times (maybe more) and indeed nailed down a fantastic Brown trout on dry fly in the end – fishing a large lake that was. Damned, usually it is me who can’t stop to hang on another last cast! But hey having my girlfriend aside sharing this last cast passion makes it even better for me.
How about you – do you want to share your passion to fly fish with your better half?
Passionate week to all of you!
All my best
Bernd
