First week gone

First week gone

Mika Lappalainen | Friday, 9 December 2022

There has been enough snowing so we got trails in shape. It has been busy week with guests mostly from Spain. All of them have been amazed about snow and winter. They love it even they have problems with coldness.

I got my rod last Friday, it was bit of luck. I didn't receive any normal info that it is in post office, just accidentally checked tracking code and saw that it has come and would be posted back on Monday unless picked up before that. Past few years and especially during Covid, I have lost faith to Finnish post. I will rather use any other company nowdays.

Fishing is the last thing on my mind at the moment and yet, I think about it daily. We had so great time in Malaysia, fishing was awesome (even only one decent catch) and it was warm. Forecast for coming week is that it will drop easily below -20 celsius, even snowing in Paris could happen. And now they are warning that there might be power cuts now and then because of cold weather. I couldn't never imagine that to happen, I still hope it won't. I have burned wood on our fireplaces so we wouldn't have to use so much electricity. Prices are 10 times comparing last year.

We are starting to have some kind of routines now on our days. I do have to fix some of the routines but when I found right steps about feeding reindeers and handling guests.... Well rod is ready and I start practicing. I did few cast all ready, but it is not simple in - 10 celsius. You should wear gloves, not to have cold fingers and yet it is not easy to handle rod and line with gloves. Life is complex thing. I have to find some good reading also about casting, fishing, teaching etc.

Have a nice weekend and go fishing
