{"id":94,"date":"2017-10-31T01:30:17","date_gmt":"2017-10-31T01:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sexyloops.com\/flycast\/?p=94"},"modified":"2025-06-03T08:24:36","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T07:24:36","slug":"the-double-haul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sexyloops.com\/flycast\/the-double-haul\/","title":{"rendered":"The Double Haul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/240588734?rel=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Finishing the &#8220;Essentials&#8221; chapter in this series is learning the Double Haul.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key points:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Double Haul is works by directly increasing line speed with the line hand.<\/li>\n<li>The haul occurs during both back and forward strokes (later in the series we will fine-tune the timing as well as the length of the hauls). It is possible to haul on just one stroke of course; this is then called the Single Haul, which we will also discuss later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are two major faults: 1) not getting your hauling hand back up as the loop is unrolling &#8211; i.e. no &#8220;up&#8221; and 2) creating slack when doing this &#8211; the most likely cause of which is too wide a back loop.<\/p>\n<p>Many casters when first learning the Double Haul, seem to have a problem keeping the rod hand stationary while bringing the line hand back up to meet it and, instead, bring both hands together &#8211; please don&#8217;t do this.
