Long
Beach Casting Club Needs Restoration Funds
Dear
ACA member,
As
you may have heard, the Long Beach Casting Club had a devastating
fire a few months ago and needs help. Although most of the damage
was covered by insurance, they still need to raise a minimum of
$50,000!
Monetary
donations will be gratefully accepted and those over $75 will be
acknowledged according to IRS rules for tax-exempt organizations.
LBCC is a 501(C)3 organization. Please make your check payable to
the Long Beach Casting Club Rebuilding Fund and mail it to P.O.
Box 90035, Long Beach, CA 90809-0035
Donations
to a fund raising raffle will also be appreciated, as will volunteer
labor. For information about other donations, please contact Carole
Katz at (714)-731-6044.
Thanks for
your help,
American
Casting Association
Long
Beach Casting Club was established in 1925 and occupies a very
special place in the history of fly fishing and casting in the US.
We've taught more than 10,000 people to cast and more than 3,000 to
tie flies, all at no cost.
Our
roster of members, past and present, include fishing tackle
patent-holders, fishing authors & illustrators, world and
national tournament casting champions, Hall of Fame Honorees, FFF
Board Members, and award winners. We've hosted eight National
Casting Championships. We have more Master Certified Casting
Instructors (11) than any other club- or state.
In
2007 alone, LBCC performed more than 2400 hours of community
service, sent fishing equipment to the Baghdad School of Fly
Fishing, and became one of the nation's leaders in Project Healing
Waters that teaches injured or disabled military to fish. Our
casting pond and clubhouse is used by fishermen and women from many
clubs as well as the public. For many years, we have helped he
public appreciate and learn the art of fly fishing. Now we need your
help.
