Ronan's report

Thursday 10th December, 2009

I don’t have much to say today... In fact, I’m feeling quite miserable for myself huddled under a blanket at the computer. We broke a record this day and reached a low that we only typically reach four times a year. 40 f*#@ing degrees below zero centigrade and below -50 degrees with the wind chill. Any hopes of open water are now dashed to pieces on the 10 inches of ice that has formed over most fish bearing water. And, unlike many Canadians, I’m not really interested in cutting a hole in the ice and sitting in the cold with a line and bait hoping a hungry fish will swim by.

Some folks are out and about this season. The cold temperatures haven’t kept anti-fur protesters from taking their clothes off and prancing around in Alberta. If you can’t respect the cause, you have to respect their little bodies taking the -25 degree temperatures without shattering. They have a point; maybe we use things excessively. Fur is acceptable in accessories and clothing for warmth and for tying flies.

Anyways, I’m going to find another blanket and dream of the predicted near freezing temperatures next week.

Stay warm,

Pic Of Day
