Ronan's report

Monday 16th November, 2009

It's nice to be back in New Zealand, "roughing it", again, it's such a beautiful country - so much nicer than Australia apparently, and of course there are very many sheep. Flyfishers like sheep. I fixed my truck this weekend, by tightening down the cylinder head bolts and sprinkling magic pixie dust in the radiator. Lucky or what?

For the last few days I've been fishing with Jo. It wasn't the most productive three days fishing and the wind nearly killed us. I've had four fish from the fishing we've done, so far. Three of them have been over six pounds - that part's been pretty good.

I haven't started yet - just finding my feet - back to wet socks, campfire drizzle, broken trucks and fish, fish, fish! Back to Christchurch tomorrow to pick up a dongler - and then I'll probably head out towards the middle South Island. Although it's very tempting to head back to North Canterbury, where I am now. We shall see - I guess that all depends on fate, a sign, a strange feeling in my dick or some other random and probably completely coincidental thing.

First campfire tonight of this NZ trip, camped out on the banks of Mystery River X. I'm camped on my own, which doesn't sound very exciting, but it is and it's a really important part of my life. You find something in a campfire on your own, that you just can't find anywhere else.

Yesterday I uploaded our second film - from way back - Enlightenment to our SexyloopsTV channel on YouTube, in seven deadly parts! Next week, hopefully, I'll have something up from the trip so far. There will be fish, big ones.

Back in the UK, Daniel at Flytackle Europe says it's time to start thinking about Christmas. And he's not just thinking Revolution DVD and Socks - he's thinking Flytying. If you're in the UK then we want your trade. Support Sexyloops and buy from our online flyshop - and if you ask us very nicely we might just give you a friendly discount!

PS be sure to check out the Blog regularly. Now that I'm sleeping under the truck again this is my focus for daily content!
