Three fish to the Shipmans as the moon was coming up. I know I've said it before but I really do well with this fly and have caught many thousands of fish using it. It's a dryfly/emerger sort of thing. Didn't get onto the water until evening but I needn't have rushed. Spent an interesting couple of hours trying to catch the only rising fish on the lake. At a guess I'd estimate him to have been between 8 and 10lbs. Turned him twice but no take. At this point things weren't looking good and God was starting to talk to me.
I gave the dam another stroll and found two fish rising along the very edge. Difficult casting since the line had to land on the rocks and not in the gaps, you had to be accurate, and it was pretty dark. I landed both of course (this is Sexyloops) and then found another fish rising on the edge of the ripple, which took my fly after I started singing to it (the fish, not the fly).
It's nice to pull it out the bag at the end like that and I'm relieved not to have blanked here two trips in a row. That would have really sucked, especially since I'd have had to tell you.
Nice fish, three fish for thirteen pounds.
Notice the red eyes; it's always like that after a Middlemarch Meet.
It's funny how we go red eyed and fish go white eyed. I must find ot why that is...
