Instead of bush bashing our way over the top of yet another enormous bluff, I had the clever idea of floating down the river.
By pushing down the backstraps of your pack you can float down river quite easily and so long as you're careful to exit the water before the next set of rapids it's quite a pleasant experience. If you don't push down the backpack straps the pack rises and dunks your head below water, so it's a handy trick to know.
For some reason I forgot to mention this to Ronan who is currently disappearing down the river like a turtle.
