Phew where to begin on this? I’m a flyfisherman, been fishing all my life, travelling for the past 16 years or so, mostly living in cars, tents, sleeping in woods, under the stars, next to campfires… you get the idea – fishing New Zealand, Europe, US, Canada and Australia mainly. and I’ve running Sexyloops for the last 10 years. Sexyloops is one of the biggest flyfishing sites, it’s very easy to get lost in there, it supports me through advertising, tackle sales, we run our own brand and I teach flycasting – I’m not rich yet. I’ve been an instructor for getting on for 15 years, Sexyloops and casting competitions help. So that’s pretty cool isn’t it? Well it is if you like fishing, casting and travelling. If you don’t like any of those things it would kind of suck.
So anyway, something unusual happened in the last 12 months, and both my North American car and my New Zealand car have self-destructed. I don’t know why the North American car blew up, but I think the NZ one did so because of lack of water. And to be honest I’ve been looking for a bit of a change and that was the catalyst. My project now is to build flyfishing schools. Obviously I’ll never be able to live in just one place and so my “plan” is to have flyfishing schools in all my favourite places. OK I’ve started in Hungary, and Hungary is one of my favourite places, surprisingly, and although we don’t have trout here, we do have many other interesting fish, none of which I know how to catch properly. So while I’m here I have to learn how to speak the language, catch a whole bunch of different fish species and figure out a fantastic teaching program.
