Can you survive?

For some reason I've been thinking of all the hype around 2012 being the end of the world. Obviously my first thoughts are to the thousands and thousands of rivers I haven't fished. But soon after, I think of what will I eat while I fish if the world is decimated? Now Sexyloops folks are among the best- no sorry, Sexyloops folks ARE the best, so I figured this would be the place to learn. Sure enough, a quick browse through the Manshit forum reveals how to kill fuzzy bunnies, sharpen knives, smell like pine scent (it's nose camo), and tan a hide. At some earlier point in my life I was a survival instructor. I taught kids how to set snares, I've eaten my fair share of squirrels, and I can make a shelter and fire when I need. But I have never been tested under real pressure (okay I poached trout with a carved hook one week when I was in the backcountry with no food). But I'm not confident now that I have what it takes. To that end, I have spent some time surfing the interweb. I have found a ton of great resources- Some bushcraft, some zombie killing tips, some truck expedition stuff, and a lot of crap. Brain Tan was a particularly good site with lots of good tips on how to tan your own hides. I now just need a pile of dead things to practice on! What this whole thing comes down to, is being prepared and having some basic knowledge to survive after all the zombies and Mad-Max gangs are gone. Then we'll have the rivers to ourselves! I'm off to look for my skinning knife and bone-saw...
