This weekend I had one of the most enjoyable days on the river that I've ever had.
Then I went ahead and ruined it.
As of right now I've spent about 6 hours thinking, analyzing, and attempting to describe what made the day so great and put that into the great context of, as Douglas Adams would say, "life, the universe, and everything." But I can't pull it together. I can't finish the deal. I've also managed to get myself frustrated to the point that I'm no longer enjoying myself thinking about how great the day was. Now I'm just dwelling on how annoying this little writing project has become.
So the original FP is cancelled. Maybe I'll work it out for another Wednesday. Now I'm just looking ahead. Sun and 90 degrees in the forecast, and the Sandy River Spey Clave this weekend.
I'm looking forward to meeting some of the great guys from the board in person, casting a million rods, enjoying the sun, and not thinking too much about the whole damned thing.
As of right now, my motto for the rest of the week and this coming weekend is... Don't Think. Do.
And, if you need something to do, please, take a moment to check out this article and sign the new petition in support of the existing regs that prohibit killing wild steelhead on Oregon's Umpqua River.
