I've been in the organizing mood lately. Not sure why.
On that note, I was hoping to accomplish two things last Saturday. Both items are essentially versions of the same thing - saving memories.
1) Backup my computer files (photos, documents, videos, etc), and
2) Put a reasonably large dent in the massive backlog of fishing journal entries that I've allowed to stack up all summer and fall.
The first item typically takes me about 15 minutes to do. The second item - translating piles of barely legible notes scribbled on the backs of napkins, paper bags, and fast food receipts into meaningful, grammatically correct journal entries - takes many hours.
Well, you read the Headline, so you might have an idea about what's coming next.
During the file backup process, something happened, and I ended up with a corrupted sector on the external hard drive that I use for file backups. Having lost all faith in the security of that device, I made a trip to the local electronics superstore (aka. Hell on Earth) to purchase a new one. That took about 2 hours and cost me about $120. Device/software installation and file backup took another hour. Then I went ahead and reformatted the original external hard drive and got it working again. That took another hour. Not sure what to do with it now.
I managed to get 2 entries finalized in my journal before it was time to make dinner and then head off to watch a professional Lacrosse game. If you don't know this sport, you are missing out.
Last week, before Saturday's colossal Backup F-Up, we managed three SUCCESSFUL bits of organizing here on Sexyloops. I launched two new archives, one for my FPs and one for my PODs. Eric one-upped me with some stellar programming and created a complete archive of all the FPs complete with dates and titles. Check out the archives if you are feeling unsatisfied by today’s lame FrontPage offering.
Off to (hopefully) find a steelhead now.
